Tournaments for children and juniors 6

Young players in Hamburg have tournaments of their own through the school year. The Blankeneser Jugend Pokal is a rapid tournament for age classes from under 8 to under 14, played several times a year in the school canteen at Knabeweg 3, where the regional under-8 children's tournament that qualifies for the German championship is also held. SV Lurup holds an open youth tournament for under-16 players at the end of October.

The Hamburg qualifying round of the under-25 girls' Grand Prix was played at the Hamburger Schachklub in October 2026, and in Ahrensburg the TSV runs youth editions of its monthly blitz. In June the Alsteruferturnier sets out boards on the Rathausmarkt for pupils from schools all over Hamburg. Each entry gives the age classes and the dates its pages print.
