Chess courses, youth training and school chess 5

Learning chess in Hamburg runs mostly through clubs and schools. The Schachschule Hamburg, at the address of the Hamburger Schachklub on Schellingstraße, offers holiday courses for children from 5 to 15 in the autumn holidays and works with the SC Eilbek. The Hamburger Schachjugendbund, the youth federation, organises the Hamburg youth championships, the school chess cup, the school team championships and a chess day for primary schools.

TuRa Harksheide in Norderstedt trains girls and boys from the age of five, Monday to Friday. The Stadtteilschule Alter Teichweg hosts federation events and the German school chess congress, and the Alsteruferturnier turns the Rathausmarkt into an open-air chess classroom for pupils from across the city every June.
